Art History Final Project
So this semester I was taking another art history class. This one was about crossing borders. As seems to be the norm for art history classes, they are never what they seem. This class explored borders both seen and unseen, real and imagined, self imposed and culturally imposed, and in theory as well as in practice. I really enjoyed the course and was introduced to some modern thinkers and their theories that are very applicable to everyday life. The one whose work I liked was Arjun Appaduri. He discussed five different ethnoscapes that have shaped our modern way of life. Without getting into all the details of the course, I really think he is on to something. I had to prepare a painting and write a final paper about one of the ethnoscapes, so I chose the mediascape. I thought I'd share my rough draft and final painting here.
